To close out 2022, RAYMOND WEIL introduced the Freelancer GMT Worldtimer, an evolution of its core Freelancer line featuring dual crowns and a rotating inner world-time bezel.

A Familiar Yet Distinct Design
If you’ve followed us on Instagram or Facebook, you may recall our first impression: this watch immediately evokes the L.U. Chopard Time Traveller One (see comparison below).
While the resemblance is notable, it’s not a criticism. In an industry where inspiration overlaps are inevitable, it’s understandable that design languages sometimes echo one another — creativity has boundaries, and interpretation is part of the craft.

Case and Dimensions
The watch retains the hallmark Freelancer DNA — a rounded case with partially faceted long lugs, giving it an elegant yet modern presence.
Crafted in stainless steel, the case measures 40.5 mm in diameter, 9.7 mm thick, and about 48.5 mm lug-to-lug — a balanced size that wears comfortably on most wrists.
The only detail that might irk perfectionist collectors: the 21 mm lug width, an uncommon size for strap swaps.

Two Versions, Two Personalities

RAYMOND WEIL released two references:
- Ref. 2765-SBC-52001: Stainless steel case with bronze-tone bezel and matching crowns.
- Ref. 2765-BKC-20001: Full black DLC-coated case for a stealthy, contemporary look.
Both feature screw-down crowns and casebacks, ensuring 100 meters of water resistance.
The upper crown at 2 o’clock, engraved with the RAYMOND WEIL logo, controls standard timekeeping functions, while the lower crown at 4 o’clock, marked with a globe motif, operates the world-time disc.

Dial and Display
The dial differs between the two versions, but the overall layout remains consistent — admittedly visually busy, but functionally coherent, as befits a proper worldtimer.
- Hour and minute hands are bold and legible.
- The seconds hand features a lollipop tip, and the red arrow GMT hand provides clear secondary time indication.
- The 6 o’clock date window is neatly integrated.
The central dial features a soft gradient finish:
- Military green for the steel/bronze version.
- Deep black for the DLC model.
The 24-hour ring matches the main dial color, while the outer city ring uses each model’s accent tone for contrast and readability.

Movement: Calibre 3230 (Sellita SW330-2 Base)
Inside beats the Calibre 3230, a Sellita SW330-2–based automatic movement.
It allows independent adjustment of the GMT hand and quickset date correction at 6 o’clock.
Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it offers a 50-hour power reserve.
Though an industrial-grade caliber, RAYMOND WEIL deserves credit for equipping the watch with a sapphire exhibition back, allowing owners to appreciate the mechanical movement within.

Price and Availability
The Freelancer GMT Worldtimer is priced at USD 2,695, available in both versions:
- Green dial model: paired with a canvas leather strap in matching color.
- Black DLC version: comes on a black calfskin strap embossed with alligator texture.

In short, the Freelancer GMT Worldtimer is a refined, practical travel companion that delivers the functionality of a world time complication without straying from RAYMOND WEIL’s accessible luxury philosophy.
