The word ‘Oyster’ indicates the patented water-resistant Oyster case and ‘Perpetual’ means the automatic movement. No text ‘Date’ or ‘Datejust’, this simply explains that the line was created for those who required a time-only watch. It tells time and that is all.
First and foremost, the ref. 6564, this is a very special and rare find. It has got an eggshell white dial fading over time, sharp pencil-shaped hour indices, Dauphine styled hands, and most importantly, the heat-blued seconds hand that one might encounter once in a blue moon.
Another attraction lies inside this piece, the calibre 1030 debuted in 1950, was the Rolex’ first in-house movement with certified chronometre. Please do not let the year scare you off, this movement still keeps good time and will serve you just fine in a few years to come.
