The ref. 1003's look only can give you a more modern feel, more solid, and more 'tool'. This one has got a nice subtle sunburst dial; multi-faceted hour markers with 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions finished like mini doorstops; strong baton styled hands. 

As a descendant of the calibre 1030, inside this piece beats the calibre 1570 which was updated with newer technology at the time like free-sprung Breguet hairspring, higher frequency, etc.

The masculine engine-turned bezel of the watch makes it not just distinctive comparing to the often-seen fluted one, but also more resistant to wear and tear for daily use.
