ORIS Pilot Automatic Chronograph ref. 7415

Let's throw this opinion straight away: You can spend a huge amount of time and still cannot discover any Swiss brand that offers better value for money than ORIS. And a living example for that statement is what we are presenting here, the ORIS Pilot Automatic Chronograph.

What pops up immediately about this ORIS is its condition. Unworn? Pristine? Perfect? Frankly speaking, maybe all. The overall appearance remains in super great shape, no signs of wear and tear. Even the leather strap looks untouched to naked eyes.

Here shown is the reference 7415, which is a pilot-styled watch. The case is totally polished featuring a stepped bezel with a flat crystal mounted on top. Under that crystal there is a matte black dial, including a Tachymetre outer ring; slightly oversized Arabic numerals; 3 sub-dials; and a date window.

What is nice is the set of hands for the hour and minute, in Cathedral style. According to Monochrome: "Cathedral hands are a classic for military watches, but have been featured on a great variety of watches with a large hour hand and slender minute – the cathedral name is most likely inspired by the stained glass window design for the luminous material". They both give very good presence, so telling time at a glance is a piece of cake.

Explaining for the quite 14 mm thick case is because of the automatic chronograph movement. ORIS chose the ETA Valjoux 7750 and even better when they treated the wearer with a display case back, a thing that not many do back in the days.

Well-designed, good-looking, and practical. What else not to love?
