GIRARD-PERREGAUX is one of the oldest excellent Swiss watchmaking manufactures which still operates today. For over two centuries, the Maison has perpetuated expertise in Haute Horology and their watches have marked far more than time, reflecting their ability to bridge between the past and future, technical mastery and iconic design, functionality and aesthetics.
Presented here is a simple-looking yet complicated GIRARD-PERREGAUX from the late 1990s to early 2000s. The watch was made following the motif ‘the best Swiss you can get’, which can show easily at first glance.
The case is complex bearing a few fancy details, giving a very well-proportioned effect. Measured 35 x 45 mm, and 10 mm in thickness, gently curved, such that the watch looks almost exactly the CPCP CARTIER Monopoussoir. One thing for certain is that both are super elegant on the wrist.
The dial is subtle blue, which is the most loved dial colour among collectors. The main set of hands is Breguet-styled, appearing on the blue background is just a perfect match. At 9 there is a running seconds and the opposite at 3 is the 30-minute chronograph register. The whole dial reflects surprisingly unexpected when hit by the light.
Powering the watch is the manual-winding chronograph movement. Based on the venerable LEMANIA 1872, this movement is a true feast for the eyes and what a shame when it is hidden behind the solid case back.
