AUDEMARS PIGUET is no stranger in the game of making ultra-thin watches. Since 1940s (exactly 1946 that shown on a timeline on the AP website in the 2000s), the Maison started to spice up the watch industry with their ultra-thin manual-winding timepieces. The introduction of the calibre 9ML at the time then remained one of the thinnest movements half a century later.
However, the star of the show is not about the 9ML. It is the jointly developed creation of AUDEMARS PIGUET, VACHERON CONSTANTIN and JAEGER-LECOULTRE – Calibre 2003 for AP; Calibre 1003 for VC; and Calibre 803 for JLC. The cal. 2003 here in particular did a very great job in a long period of time as a 9ML’s successor.
Another distinctive feature of this AP is its oval case shape. Round, square or rectangular are often seen more and well-loved by collectors as well as designers. That makes this watch have more character.
Classic white dial and Roman numerals, a piece of cake is a phrase to describe its telling-time functionality. Not to mention the styled crown made in very few numbers which is finished in sapphire, giving the watch a more elegant design.
